Robinson Cano Suprises Yankee Fans As They Boo Him [VIDEO]
When Robinson Cano decided to leave the New York Yankees and sign with the Seattle Mariners to the tune of a 10-year, 240 MILLION dollar contract this offseason, Yankee fans were left with a sour taste in their mouths. Tonight, Cano comes back to Yankee Stadium for the first time as a Mariner and as one might expect the- boo birds will be out in full force. Realizing the situation, Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, decided to help fans get some booing practice in before the game. However, Jimmy was up to his old tricks. Watch what happens to these fans as Cano creeps up from behind them while booing.
Robinson Cano spent his first eight seasons in pinstripes, making five all-star teams and helping the Yankees win a World Series championship. When the Yankees offered him a seven-year, 175 million dollar contract, fans hoped the second baseman would stay in New York. However, the Seattle Mariners offered more money on the plate and just like that, Cano was headed to the West Coast.
Tonight, the Mariners play the Yankees in the Bronx, marking the first time that Robinson Cano will be back in his hold stomping grounds. It’s fair to say that most Yankee fans will be ready to boo Cano in an instant. The Yankees wanted to cut him a check for 175 million dollars and to Cano, that wasn’t enough. Jimmy Fallon, host of the Tonight Show, decided to put New Yorkers to the test and see if they could truly boo Robinson Cano. A giant cardboard cutout of Cano was placed in the streets of NYC for fans to “practice booing” at. However, Fallon…oh, that Fallon. Jimmy actually had the real Robinson Cano hiding inside of the cutout. Watch some fans’ reactions as Cano creeps up from behind and how quickly their tunes change.
What would you do if Cano popped out on you mid boo? Would you be able to boo Robinson Cano to his face?
