One of the things that I feel makes me a geek is that I am a Ham Radio or Amateur Radio operator. I have been licensed for a little over 20 years now. And one of the things I like to do is build and play with antennas. So I’m showing off an antenna I have been building for the 6 Meter band. I started it almost 4 years ago, and it just sat there waiting for me to finish it. I finally made the time and had the extra resources to do it. All in all, this isn’t a “great achievement” in my book, but still, it’s something I wanted to share to get more people to ask what I am doing and then explain what Ham Radio is.
I got the idea to build this antenna from “Tinker John” over on YouTube, who is a fellow Ham Radio operator. Now the design is nothing new, many people have done it before, but John got me thinking that something like this would make a fun project. Well, 4 years later, here we are. If you like it, let me know, or if you’re curious about Ham Radio, stop by the American Radio Relay League’s website for more info or to find a local club to see Ham Radio up close.
