John Oliver Beautifully Explains Net Neutrality and Why We’re All About To Be Screwed
You have probably heard the term net neutrality before, but if you’re like me you have no idea what the hell that is. John Oliver, formerly of the “Daily Show” now on his own show “Last Week Tonight,” explains exactly what this is and how it will affect us all.
For myself, this would be horrible. I work on the internet, and stream an awful lot of Netflix in my downtime.
For other people, they use the internet as their sole form of entertainment. They stream Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, Roku and many other cheaper ways to get television without actually paying for cable. So if companies can now charge other compnaies for how fast they’ll stream their content, you can bet that prices will rise.
Is it fair? No way. But, America is all about making money. It was only a matter of time before the cable and TV companies figured out a way to get their money despite people not using their services any more.
