Deadpool Movie Will Align With X-Men Cinematic Universe
With the announcement that everyone’s favorite comic book mercenary will be getting his own feature film, there were several rumors that FOX could be trying to duplicate the success of the Marvel Studios cinematic universe. Turns out, those rumors are true.
Yes that is correct. The 2016 Deadpool film will some how be connected with the current X-Men films. This was confirmed by “Days of Future Past” writer and producer Simon Kinberg. This is a very exciting turn of events.
Kinberg said:
There’s definitely a sort of overall plan that we’ve all been talking about for the X-Men universe now,and Deadpool obviously fits into that. So yeah, I guess I would say it’s part of certainly an overall timeline and thought process that goes into these films, some of which is inspired by the comics and some which is inspired by seeing what Marvel’s done with telling a larger tapestry and linking all those movies together, even as they stand independently as well. The same kind of thought is going to go into these X-Men movies at Fox.
According to ComicBook.com the original Deadpool script actually poked fun at Deadpool’s first appearance in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” but it may be toned down a bit now that they are having some sort of connection. Not sure where that connection applies, but maybe we’ll see Deadpool pop up in “X-Men: Apocalypse” which is also set the premiere in 2016.
