Benedict Cumberbatch Joins Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange
Marvels’ Sorcerer Supreme is hitting the big screen and we finally know who will be taking on the role.
After a whole mess of rumors about who would be playing Doctor Strange for Marvel, the Hollywood Reporter got the dirt. It looks like Benedict Cumberbatch, an early contender for the role, has sealed the deal with Marvel.
Cumberbatch’s name was thrown out with the early rumors, but many dismissed that he would play the part due to conflicts of other projects. Also rumored to play this role were Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix.
Doctor Strange will be directed by Scott Derrickson, who is mainly known for his work in the horror genre. He will take on the mystical properties of the sorcerer supreme.
