Scottie’s Day With The WWE
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am one of the biggest WWE fans around. Since the days of Hulkamania, to the Attitude Era to today you can be sure I will be tuned in every Monday and Friday nights. Now with the WWE Network, I can watch 24/7/365 if I wanted to.
Today, I felt like a kid on Christmas. I got killer seats for WWE SmackDown at the Times Union Center in Albany. But the day started with the opportunity to meet “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose at my job at Albany Broadcasting. He was very down to earth and chill. Some listeners may have thought he was drunk on the air but that wasn’t the case. He was in Buffalo the night before for Monday Night Raw and was running on very little sleep for his radio interviews. He made a point to bust on me for my Steelers hat and tattoo because he is from Cincinnati and is a Bengals fan.I guess we can’t all be perfect.
Later in the day, I headed off to Wolf’s 1-11 in Colonie to a meet and greet with WWE Diva Summer Rae. It wasn’t heavily advertised so it wasn’t a huge crowd there, which suit me fine because I really didn’t want to wait in a long line all afternoon. Since that was the case my buddy and I had the chance to chat with her and much like Dean she was very cool and nothing like the bitch that she portrays on TV.
Finally, the time came for SmackDown. I was able to score 4th row seats and had a great time enjoying some great entertainment! I was hoping either Dean and Summer would spot me in the crowd but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I don’t wanna spoil anything for those who wanna watch on Friday, but I will say there was not one, but two Steel Cage matches! Also a shout out goes to local wrestlers Shane Alden and Jeff Starr who performed in a dark match against The Ascension.
The only thing I will complain about the night is the fact that the security guard in my section on a few occasions told me to sit down when they were in between segments and there was nothing going on in the ring. But at the same time people further down in the section were standing and nothing was said to them. I swear I always sit near the party pooper security guy!
