Your Hummus Addiction Is Helping Tobacco Farmers
These days people are smoking far less. It could be that people are more health conscious, it could be that cigarettes are crazy expensive. So what is a tobacco farmer to do with this dying business? Get down with hummus.
Have you tried hummus? It’s fantastic! You can dip stuff in it, and you can spread it on wraps and sandwiches. I certainly can’t do either of those with cigarettes.
With less than 20% of Americans smoking in 2014, tobacco farmers are having to find new ways to make money. So they have turned to growing chickpeas. That’s according to the Huffington Post, after reviewing a study done by the truth campaign.
Personally I’m hoping that if they start growing more chickpeas the price of hummus will drop as well. It’s always good to have a backup plan, and these farmers are cashing in on healthy snacking.
So if you are a smoker, put down the cigs and pick up some hummus. You will not regret your decision.
