Nerd Notes: Doctor Strange Rumors, Aquaman and ‘Infinity War’ Gets Its Directors
It is an exciting time to be a comic book fan. We’re getting so much over the next six years, and the news of casting and story lines just keeps on coming.
Infinity War
We’ll get the ball rolling with some news from Marvel, who have found their director – well, directors – for “Avengers: Infinity War.” It looks like Joss Whedon won’t be back and the Russo Brothers are in! We all know what a great job the Russo brothers did with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” so it’s not surprising that they got this gig.
Don’t count Joss Whedon out just yet. His influence will still be felt in the MCU. He’s been a major overseer for Marvel, and we bet that continues all the way until the bitter end.
Doctor Strange
Casting! Give us casting! Right now we know that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the Sorcerer Supreme and Daniel Bruhl will be playing a villain. So who will be playing Doctor Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One? Right now it looks like three major players are competing: Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy, and Ken Wantanabe. All could be great, but I think that I would love to see Nighy in the role. Wantanabe is the easy choice, but I think that Nighy wuld be a good fit.
Aquaman
If you’re a fan of Jason Momoa, then you’ll love this. It looks like he’s got a four film deal with DC comics to play Aquaman. We already know he’ll be popping up in “Batman v Superman” and that there is an Aquaman solo project on the way. So what are the other two? It has to be the two Justice League movies that will be out in the next few years. Get ready for plenty of Momoa.
