It was announced a few weeks ago, but we’re seeing the first clip from Star Wars Rebels that has Master Yoda, though only his voice, making an “appearance” on the show. That in itself is cool for a fan like me, but what it really making me geek out, is that Frank Oz, the original voice of Yoda, reprises his role for this episode.
For the longest time, Tom Kane had been the voice of our favorite Jedi Master, doing all 6 seasons of Star Wars Clone Wars as well as just about every Star Wars video game, not just as Yoda but as numerous other characters. He’s reached the status of being Frank Oz’s equal with regard to Yoda.
This is not the first time a Star Wars movie actor has reprised their role on the animated series. Samuel Jackson, who played Master Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel movies, voice Windu in the 2 hour series premier of Clone Wars, as well British Actor and newly minted heavy metal artist, Christopher Lee bringing life to Count Dooku in the same episode. And lets not forget Liam Neeson and Pernilla August also did the same for their Star Wars roles as Qui-Gon Jinn and Shimi Skywalker in the Mortis story arc of Clone Wars in season three.
Check out the above clip and hear Frank bring Master Yoda into the Rebels storyline.
