Jennifer Lawrence Done with X-Men Franchise after ‘Apocalypse’
Those of you who have grown to love Jennifer Lawrence as the villain, Mystique, will have to learn to say goodbye. She confirms that she will not be doing anymore X-Men movies after 2016’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Sorry, JLaw fans, she’s out. She’s not the only one who’s out, though. Also leaving the franchise is her former boyfriend (in real life and on screen), Nicholas Hoult, aka Beast, is also calling it quits.
Jennifer – also known as Big Rich’s Hollywood wife – is probably looking to break away from a franchise. “Apocalypse” could be a good way to end her story and give the character a bit of closure. She’s been heavily involved with X-Men and and The Hunger Games movies since 2011. Obviously the 24 year old would like to branch out.
Now this doesn’t mean that these new X-Men film will be ending. For “Apocalypse” they’ll be bringing on new actors to play parts of familiar characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler. Also don’t forget that Hugh Jackman is in this until the end. In fact, he would love to see some sort of collaboration with Marvel to bring the X-Men into the MCU. Yes- we’re drooling over that too. Hopefully one day we’ll get that old man Logan story.
Also we’re finally getting a Deadpool movie, and you can bet that’s not just a one-off. This movie will be part of the X-Men universe. We also have a Channing Tatum Gambit film in the works as well.
No Mystique will not be the end of of these movies. Maybe we can move on and explore other villains. I’m hoping for maybe a look at Onslaught. How about we get Cable involved?
Endless possibilities, true believers.
