Could DC and Warner Bros. Be Eyeing Someone for John Stewart Green Lantern?

Green Lantern is a founding member of the Justice League. However, as far as movies go, he’s yet to make his mark in the film world. So could DC and Warner Bros. be eyeing someone to take on the role as the John Stewart version?

Tyrese Gibson, known for his work in the “Transformers” and “Fast and Furious” films, posted this fan created image of him as the John Stewart version of the hero.

Now Tyrese might be a good choice for this role, and given their failure with the Hal Jordan Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds, I think this is a good way to go. However, there are a few things that may prevent this dream of Tyrese’s from actually happening.

We do know that a Green Lantern film is slated for 2020. What we don’t know is which Green Lantern that film will take on. There are reports that this project will focus on the John Stewart character, but nothing is confirmed. As a big fan of “Justice League” and “Justice League: Unlimited” I am pulling for John Stewart. Tyrese isn’t the only person who could take on the role.

David Ramsay, who plays John Diggle on CW’s “Arrow”, confirmed that there are currently talks for him to take on the Green Lantern role on the television show. Those familiar with the John Diggle character know there are certainly similarities between him, and John Stewart. So would he also play that part on the big screen, or would it be a case of it just being in the DC television universe? That remains to be seen.
