New Fast and Furious 7 Was “Pretty Good”
Now as a disclaimer, this was the first movie in the series that I have seen. I have never seen the first six at all. So from a story standpoint, I was in the dark. But from an action standpoint, I thought it was great!
Vin Diesel is back as Dominic Toretto as well as Paul Walker, in his final film, as Brian O’connor. The villain played by Jason Statham, Deckard Shaw, is seeking revenge for the death of his brother at the hands of Dominick’s team. And right from the get go, you know it’s going to be a fast paced action movie as the first scene unfolds, with bodies and damage all around.
It’s the classic kind of over the top action you can expect from this movie, and it delivers that in spades! I mean, this series if famous for the fast cars, and complex driving scenes. The way it’s shot, it’s almost like a segment from a Top Gear episode. But you get the whole spy chase kind of sub plot to give it some more pizzaz.
Now when I saw Need For Speed, which is the same kind of formula, I liked it, but wasn’t overly impressed by the story telling. And let’s face it, I’m not hard to please with a story. As long as it’s done in a visually appealing way and keeps me engaged. Furious 7 did that for the most part with the ladies in bikinis have a car wash, and pole dancing and just being sexy, while hanging out around some pretty awesome cars.
I also found the tribute to Paul Walker at the end of the movie, to be very moving. You could tell that Diesel and Walker were very close and the way they ended it, I think was great!
The long and short of it is, if you like high action movies, with guns, hot women in sexy bikinis and fast cars, then this is your movie. Go get your tickets now and enjoy. If you’re a geek like me, you’ll enjoy the action, the cars and the ladies, but the story was kind of meh. But all in all, worth the money to get in.
