Netflix Green Lights Second Season of Daredevil, But Makes Some Changes
After binging on the first season in a mere 2.3 days, and seeing all the response the series was getting on Twitter, I knew it was just a matter of time for Daredevil to get green lit for a second season, and it has come to pass, but with some changes behind the scenes.
Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will be taking the helm for season 2 as Steven DeKnight is leaving. Petrie and Ramirez are Whedon-verse vets helping to pen Buffy and Sons of Anarchy, respectively, so it looks to be that the horned one is going to be in safe hands.
There was no exact wording on when the new season would be coming out, except to say that it’ll be sometime in 2016. And that is ok, as AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be coming out in that between time to help fill the void, all to ramp up into a Defenders series.
Marvel has yet to disappoint me and I can not wait for more of these shows to hit. One I would still love to see is The Punisher, with Tom Jane back as Frank Castle. Steve DeKnight had said in an interview back when he was named to helm Daredevil, that he would love to see Castle get his own R rated series on Netflix. I couldn’t agree with him more. Now that The Punisher rights are back at Marvel from Lionsgate, I think they should bring him into one of the shows, and then work him up to his own series. You bet your sweet bippy I would watch that show!
Still, for fans of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, this is great news and we will be waiting, patiently, but with a spark of glee, for the horned one to return to our TVs.
