New ‘Star Trek’ Series Coming To CBS in 2017
Don’t get too excited just yet. It’s coming to CBS, but not in a way that will make many people happy.
Trekkies everywhere can rejoice that the beloved “Star Trek” is returning to the the small screen. The Verge reports that CBS has plans for a new Star Trek show that will begin in 2017. Cool, right?
Not so fast. Hold onto your excitement.
According to the report, the show will premiere in January of 2017 with the first episode airing on CBS television. The rest of the series will be available for paid subscription with CBS’ new online service.
Set phasers to LAME.
I’m not sure about you guys, but as much as I love “Star Trek” in all of its forms, I will not be paying for CBS online subscription service in order to watch. That’s madness. It’s stupid, and there is no way that show will last being only available online only. Also, CBS isn’t exactly the network I go to when I think Science Fiction.
Will you buy a subscription service to watch a new CBS influenced “Star Trek?” No. HELL no. What else will they offer? Another NCIS? Maybe a new CSI? This show is destined for failure.
