Chris Cornell b. July 20, 1964, d. May 17, 2017
The front man of one of grunge rock’s greatest bands has passed. Chris Cornell, who helped to form and fronted Soundgarden as well as Audioslave, was found dead in his hotel room in the MGM Grand casino in Detroit. The Detroit Police is calling the death an apparent suicide.
Chris was one of the first artists to help pioneer the grunge rock scene in Seattle, Washington in the 90’s along with the bands Nirvana and Perl Jam. Soundgarden went on to have three albums certified platinum. They disbanded in 1997 but reunited in 2010 and has played regularly since. In 2012, they released a new album called “King Animal”, their first in 16 years.
Cornell is survived by his wife Vicky, who he had 2 children with, a son and daughter, and also another daughter from his previous marriage with Susan Silver.
